The Food

Barbecue is a craft. Using heat and smoke at low temperatures to produce consistently flavorful meats takes years of experience and long hours every day at the pit.

Pitmaster Judd Foster’s attention to detail and incredible passion shows in everything that Hootenanny’s serves. Judd is also inspired by international flavors, particularly Mexican cuisine, making his tacos with homemade roasted salsas the most requested items every day. Everything is scratch made in a small kitchen under Judd’s watchful eyes.

Judd shares the kitchen with his wife Kate, and incredible staff, who also embrace Hootenanny’s most important characteristic—quality. Kate adds her touch with speciality sides and seasonal vegetarian options. Sandwiches are assembled to order.

The Vibe

Hootenanny’s is located in a historic house in downtown Brunswick, across from the beautiful old Glynn County courthouse.

Diners order at the takeout window “old school,” and pick up and eat in the Yard, where they can enjoy the live oak canopy, listen to local musicians, and have a beer, some bubbles or s’mores with friends. Or there are seats on the quintessentially southern front porch or inside in the house.

The Connection

Hootenanny’s is a family business. Judd started his barbecue passion on a maple sugar kettle with his brother on his grandfather’s farm in upstate New York and entered his first competition under the name Hootenanny’s. He turned that passion into a hospitality career with his wife, and operates Hootenanny’s with local business partners committed to redeveloping the surrounding neighborhood.

Hootenanny’s supports and collaborates with other local businesses, incorporates local products into its menu, assists local non-profits with their fundraising events, and provides a family (and dog) friendly and inclusive space for its staff and diners.
